Crafting for a Cause

Mar 10, 2026 | CC Knits Blog

At CC Knits Muskoka, knitting and crocheting is so much more than a hobby — it’s a way to connect with our community and give back to those who need it most. Every stitch we make is made with love, and we believe that love is best shared. That’s why, each year, we donate a portion of our handmade creations to causes that are close to our hearts.

Supporting Local Organizations

Each year, unsold items from our collections find a second purpose — warming the lives of people and animals in need. We regularly donate to the Salvation Army in Gravenhurst, Ontario, where our handmade scarves, mittens, and warm winter pieces go to people in our community who need them most. We also have a soft spot for our four-legged friends, which is why we donate hand-knit and crocheted dog sweaters to the OSPCA in Gravenhurst, Ontario — because every pup deserves to stay cozy while they wait for their forever home!

Giving at Auction

We’ve also been happy to support Mill Stream Bible Camp by donating handmade items for their fundraising auctions. It’s a wonderful feeling to know that something crafted by hand can help raise funds for a great cause and bring joy to whoever wins it.

Responding When It Matters Most

When disaster strikes, we believe in doing what we can. In 2024, we were moved by the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene and donated several items from our winter collection to help support the victims. It was a small gesture in the face of such a large tragedy, but we hope it brought even a little warmth and comfort to those affected.

Crafting with Purpose

We share all of this not to pat ourselves on the back, but because we truly believe in the power of the crafting community. Knitters and crocheters around the world donate their time, their skills, and their creations every single day — and it makes a real difference.

If you’re a fellow maker looking to give back, we’d encourage you to look into local shelters, animal rescues, community organizations, or camps in your area. Even a single handmade item can mean the world to someone.

Thank you for being part of the CC Knits Muskoka community. Every time you support us — whether by browsing our patterns, shopping in our store, or simply following along — you make it possible for us to keep crafting for a cause.

With love and yarn, the CC Knits Muskoka team

We are proud to do this every year in the hopes that the people or pets who receive our gift feel the love we put into every stitch.
